Find calm in a busy world
I began my yoga journey in 1995 studying Iyengar, and since then I've practiced various styles (off and on) over the years including classical yoga. For the past nine years, my personal practice has been Ashtanga Vinyasa, classical yoga and yin.
I've completed a one-year Yoga Teacher Training (RYT 200 hrs) & a six-month Yin Training (RYT 100 hrs); accredited with The British Wheel of Yoga. I've also attended training workshops with Kino MacGregor, Tim Feldman, David Swenson and Laura Burkhart.
I teach Vinyasa Flow giving students the time to connect with the breath and set up the pose. My classes are steady but challenging and have a strong Ashtanga influence, working with breath, drishti and bandhas. My Yin classes are deeply restorative & aim to ease stress & tension in the body & have a mindfulness element.
I offer yoginis options (modifications) so versions of all the poses are safely available whatever a person’s level of practice.
But, really, yoga is just yoga. I've come to realise that this wonderful flowing meditation is so much more than asanas.
See you on the mat!
As well as teaching yoga, I write about health, wellness and mindfulness. My features appear in national newspapers like The Daily Express and The Daily Mirror, and also magazines like Spirit & Destiny. My latest book The Power of Manifesting will be published by Piatkus in March 2024.
As a former gymnast, I'm no stranger to injuries & it's really important that the yogis in my class stay safe. I don't encourage people to push themselves beyond their safe limits, and I don't do harsh hands-on adjustments. I always offer two options for more challenging poses (sometimes three) - again helping you to work within your own level. I also ask that you fill in a health questionnaire before your first class.
I recently wrote a series of features about Seated Yoga for the national press. This gentle approach, based on Hatha Yoga, is designed for people who are not able to access a typical yoga session. Like a traditional class, Seated Yoga encompasses all of the elements of a balanced practice: a warm-up, postures (asanas), breath-work (pranayama) & relaxation.
"A fabulous article. Thanks so much for giving credit to the British Wheel of Yoga."
